250,000 BP to 30,000 BP: Neanderthals in what is now Europe.
~ A spear of hardened yew, presumably flung or thrust by a human, fixes itself  between the ribs of an elephant in what is now Saxony(?).
~ Fire was used by Peking man in what is now China. Fire may have been used at an earlier time in Africa.
~ 230,000 BP: Homo Sapiens including Neanderthal man were on Earth.

240,000 BP, New Zealand: The super-volcano, Mamaku Ignimbrite, erupted in the Taupo Volcanic zone on the North Island at Rotorua Caldera. About 280 km3 ejecta.

230,000 BP, New Zealand: A super-volcano erupted on the North Island in Taupo volcanic zone. Call it the Roporoa Caldera. About 100 km3 of ejecta.









212,000 to 17,000 BP: Evidence of Solutrian people in eastern France, in Spain, and England during this period. Most of their articles found have been dated from around 21,000 BP. Practically no evidence of their existence is found dating to after around 17,000 BP
